Hello – my name is Mark Eley and I live near Solihull in England.

ME (r) Celebrating My First (And Last) Hole-In-One On 5th September 2015

Having become interested in amateur golf in 2011 I soon realised it was far from easy to follow all of the leading players and elite events. The need for a single reference point for Great British and Irish amateur golf was obvious so I set about creating it.

I didn’t want it to be about me so I sought an independent name for my work. I opted for ‘Golf Bible’.

On 1st May 2013 I set up a twitter account (@GolfBible) my aim being to build a community and to promptly communicate competition news and results.

In November 2013 I opened a GolfBible Pinterest account. I have collected thousands of photos here covering all aspects of the game. Please take a look – I am sure you will find something of interest. Some of the more recent additions are shown below (slide photos upwards to view more).

In October 2014 I established this website so that I could provide more detailed information on upcoming events and occasionally profiles of famous amateur golfers as I researched them.

In December 2015 I established a separate Golf Bible Walker Cup website. I did this for two reasons; 1) I wanted to collate as much information on this match in one place as I could (an ongoing process) and 2) I wanted to record the journey to each future match in detail, starting with Los Angeles in 2017.

In April 2017 I was invited to become one of the selectors for the Southern Golf Association’s Amateur of the Month Award. The SGA were keen for their award to gain greater prominence and wanted to ensure they had a fully international panel.

  1. Mr.Eley, Stumbled upon this site; enjoy it very much even though I have perused only part. Look forward to the rest. Louis Despres

  2. Hi I just wondered whether you can help us we are trying to see the SPWAR updates but it appears that the site has been down for a couple of days. Do you know if there is an issue or is it just me?
I am an avid reader of your site and your coverage of amateur golf is brilliant. Thank you

    • Hi Janet, It’s definitely not you. Unfortunately the SPWAR is having some hosting issues currently which mean that it is not loading the key ranking page properly. I am told by Mr. Solomon that it being worked on urgently. Thanks for your kind feedback, Mark.
