June 2023 Men’s Amateur Rankings

10th July 2023

Throughout the year I analyse the main golf rankings to help us assess the performances of Great Britain and Ireland’s (GB&I) leading players as well as the status of events they compete in.

Following the passing of Fred Solomon in April this is sadly the first quarter when I have been unable to utilise his Scratch Players World Amateur Ranking (SPWAR), which I considered to be the most accurate ranking.

This information is maintained on the Rankings page of the GolfBible website and is updated quarterly.

The latest update covering the June 2023 Quarter period has now been added.

I have selected Alex MAGUIRE (IRL), who has enjoyed a superb early summer, capped off by his win in the St. Andrews Links Trophy, as my Player of the Quarter.

The Amateur Championship (PR 886.8413) – SPQ T40 / MP Quarter Finals
St. Andrews Links Trophy (PR 717.2063) – 1st
East of Ireland Men’s Amateur Open Championship (PR 156.4338) – 1st
Brabazon Trophy (PR 467.2655) – Tied 14th
Irish Men’s Amateur Open Championship (PR 398.8146) – 4th
C-USA Men’s Golf Championship (PR 205.3583) – 4th

Alex is the fourth consecutive Irish player to receive the award following in the footsteps of Max Kennedy (March 2023), Hugh Foley (September 2022) and Matt McClean (June 2022). There was no award made in December 2022.
